Rainbow Snippet February 24-25

RAINBOW SNIPPET

This week, I'm snipping from my (warning: unedited, aarhg!) WIP titled Twenty-One Arrow Salute.

It's a standalone novelette about a cocky archer Verhan, who falls in love for the very first time.

To read other little teasers and get some great LGBTQ+ book recs, visit Rainbow Snippet Group on Facebook, where authors share six sentence snippets from their work every Saturday.

The more I looked, the more I enjoyed the view, astonished that Seinnés’ clean-limbed built and graceful looks had escaped my notice so far. But something beyond his beauty alone garnered my attention: his mellow features, stripped of their usual frostiness and contemptuous arrogance. Unaware of my scrutiny and folded in such a childlike pose, he came across as downcast and forsaken. So out of his element that I ended up fighting an odd impulse to comfort him. I couldn’t shake the thought that I walked in on him in a private moment of vulnerability, when he dropped his guard and left himself exposed. And suddenly, watching him like that seemed wrong somehow—akin to stealing secrets—in every way more intrusive than ogling bare, soaped arses through a cloud of steam in the bathhouse.

Thanks for reading. Enjoy your weekend!
